You may have heard us mention a childrens product we have recently been working on. The project includes website design and development, package design, point of sale collateral, branding development and more. It is a very exciting product, as a start up, independently owned business. Further adding to its appeal is that it is 100% Australian owned and operated, as well as environmentally friendly in its production and implementation.
Unfortunately we cannot give too many details of the project at this stage, as it is commercial in confidence, however rest assured once it launches in the market place we will be singing from the roof tops (or more specifically – showcasing on our website, tweeting through @dgmadvertising, blogging here and Facebooking there!)
As part of the web design an environment was required for the background, that not only adds aesthetically to the overall look and feel of the site, but also fits within the story of the product and its characters. After being unable to find a suitable background from stock images – our very talented designer Cecily said to me simply; “I can paint one”. Immediately I said – go for it. The last few days I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her process:
Putting together a digital collage
Getting our very excited clients feedback
Hand sketching the outline
Colouring in with water colour
Constantly referring back to photographs and reference material
It’s getting very close and I cannot wait to show our client the finished product. It is so refreshing to use different methods, particularly in web design – as well as witness the talents of our design team. Without giving them too bigger heads, I find it incredible that one moment they can be coding for a website and then next minute pulling out the brushes and water colours to paint. Check out below progress so far:
I suppose the marketing and client services team should just take comfort in the fact we contribute in other ways. It’s like when your Mum says to you ‘Don’t worry darling, you are good at other things.’
