Qantm Create Awards Fun

Last night our team was lucky enough to attend the Qantm Create Awards night at the Forum Theatre, supported strongly by Desktop Magazine. We had not been in previous years, but decided to attend this year, as excitingly we made the finalist shortlist for the Package Design Category. The project we submitted was for our brilliant client Forever Clover’s packaging design. The plant based bio degradable card parks, along with albums and the display boxes were all part of the submission (you can check out our submission here)

The night was run so well, the perfect format for an awards night if you ask me – 45 minute ceremony with previews of the work and no lengthy speeches, a comedian MC (Dave Callan = awesome) and then drinks, nibbles and great tunes well into the night. Kudos to Desktop Magazine for running the night so well, and ensuring the focus is on the finalists and winners (not sponsors and suppliers). The vibe is fun, supportive and inspiring. You can genuinely feel designers supporting each other for doing great work, and competition is put aside for one night.

We didn’t win the award, congrats to Leo Burnett who did. But we were very proud and honored to be part of such a select portion of amazing work. The Project of the Year Award went to Studio Lima and The View From Here for their New Moon project – a very worthy winner.

So in summary the highlights:
> Being a finalist in the first place
> Dave Callan’s replica dance performance of Beyonce – Single Ladies!
> Sharing a great night with a client we have worked hard with for nearly 2 years
> Witnessing the industry benchmark
> Having a few drinks and laughs with people I genuinely enjoy working with everyday

Leanne from Forever Clover emailed me today – to say there will definitely be new packages for 2012 – so look out for us next year.

Closing words, congrats to all the winners and thanks Desktop Magazine for pulling together a fun night.
